Ratbone Rat Terrier Rescue

About

Ratbone Rat Terrier Rescue is a small, volunteer‑run nonprofit dedicated to saving Rat Terriers and Rat Terrier mixes, primarily across Florida. Relaunched in 2024 as a continuation of the original Ratbone Rescues, the group pulls dogs from high‑kill shelters, difficult environments, and dumping grounds like the Redlands in South Florida, then rehabilitates and places them in foster or adoptive homes. With fewer than five core volunteers balancing full‑time jobs and rescue work, Ratbone emphasizes patience, education (like the 3‑3‑3 decompression rule), and thoughtful matching so each “Rattie” has a real chance at a safe, stable, and loving home.

details

For Ratbone Rat Terrier Rescue, I created the brand and website from scratch, designing a playful, uplifting logo and soft color palette to bring warmth and lightness to the serious subject of dog rescue and adoption. The old site was outdated, hard to navigate, and had long, overwhelming forms separated from the dogs themselves, so I rebuilt the experience to make adoption feel approachable, joyful, and easy to manage.

The adoption page features a filterable grid of available dogs (by age and gender), with each card showing a large photo, name, age, gender, location, and quick description so users can browse without clicking into every profile. Once they do click in, the detail page presents a hero image, characteristic tags, and a full description alongside a multi-step adoption form that's broken into digestible sections. I placed a second photo of the dog right next to the form so the applicant can keep their future "Rattie" in view the whole time, and the dog's name is dynamically pre-filled in the form for a smoother experience. I applied the same multi-step approach to the volunteer forms, and even added adoptable dogs to the hamburger sub-nav to reduce friction.

Everything is managed through Webflow CMS so the client can easily add, update, and remove dogs without dev support. I also built a custom Google Sheets script to sync all the dog CMS data to a spreadsheet for their marketing and internal tracking. The result is a site that makes adoption fun, clear, and efficient—for both the users looking to adopt and the small team running the rescue.
